Graphic design is basically collage — but to build that collage, you need the right Lego bricks: your color palette, type choices, grid, photography style, textures… all of it counts.
These pieces aren’t just decoration — they’re how the work speaks.

I analyzed the shape and the counter first. Then I added some angles to the round shape and stretched both the shape and the counter form to create this gothic style font.
I made the type shape in Minecraft to find inspiration. In Adobe illustrator, I created the letter O first then worked on the rest of the letter forms based on this specific O.

I think this photo captures a strong sense of vulnerability mixed with subtle resistance, which really echoes the kind of feeling I’m aiming for in the type design.
I didn’t follow the traditional type specimen because it lacks dynamic movement. At least it didn’t work on my Gothic Weirdo.
Based on different compositions and metaphorical images I have created, I can produce beautiful designs as much as I want. It’s like playing with LEGOs. Working with modularity is not only a systematic working process but a great enjoyable process of creation.
For this poster, I wanted to create the feeling of being fragile. The typeface I have made is definitely not a popular one because it lacks legibility. It’s a marginal type but it still contains its own beauty. The sharp edge on it seems dangerous and violent but it can create an aesthetic movement. It’s a type that people need time to comprehend.
