Graphic design is basically collage — but to build that collage, you need the right Lego bricks: your color palette, type choices, grid, photography style, textures… all of it counts.

These pieces aren’t just decoration — they’re how the work speaks.

Through my sketches, I tried to capture my inspiration like the curve, perspective angle and little monsters from the captions from Mika’s music video.

Stuck in the Middle

“I look at you, you look at me, we bite each other;

And with your bitter words you kick me in the gutter”

I was insipired by this line of words. People use words to hurt each other though they don’t mean to be like that.

Lollipop

This song is really lively and the lyrics are sexual somehow. So I create some liquefying creature around the lollipop to represent the lyrics.

Relax(Take it Easy)

At the end of this song. A old lady says, she lost one eye when she was sadly sitting on the balcony and was hitted by a bomb. This song, though, is encourage people look forwards. So I drew two eyeballs dancing together.

Patterns

For the album cover, I use these patterns like spill water and also the neon color palette to bound it with the rest of 3 pieces together.

Typeface
I tried several typefaces then being asked to hand write them myself. But the motion in those typefaces is what I want to bring in when I was hand writing those words.

Color Palette
The scene of neon light from the caption of Lollipop’s video inspired me to use actual neon color as my color palette.
